Welcome to the Life Skills Lab! My name is Ginny Foote and I am the Instructor/Educational Planner & Transition Specialist for Clarkston students in the WorkFirst program.
You can find the WorkFirst Life Skills Lab in Room 134 on the Clarkston Campus in the main building. Students are able to use the lab from 8:00 – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Our phone number is 509-758-1708.
The Life Skills Lab is a quiet place that is staffed full-time where students can come in between classes to work on homework and get assistance. It is also where WorkFirst students attend some classes.
WorkFirst Students use the Life Skills Lab to:
- Take the Life Skills Module Series Online Course. This course addresses skills essential for development of successful life-long habits.
- Participate in Basic eLearning. This course is a directed study program where students learn keyboarding skills and how to use the computer and applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Internet.
- Take a Career Scope Assessment by VRI. Career Scope is administered in the lab and measures a student’s interest and aptitude for occupation investigation. The resulting occupation referrals are aligned with current occupational databases. Students are shown how to use O*Net resources and ESD/WorkSource online tools.
- Be a part of College Experiences which are brief information sessions delivered to students regarding how to navigate college processes such as financial aid and address frequently asked questions which lead to being successful in college.
